February 26, 2021 — A woman who was burned by a Mirro Pressure Cooker has filed a lawsuit accusing the manufacturer of selling a dangerous product.
The lawsuit was filed by Katie S., a woman from Minnesota who claims she suffered “serious and substantial burn injuries” on February 1, 2017.
Her injuries occurred when she opened the lid on a Mirro Pressure Cooker while there was still pressure inside the pot, which caused “its scalding hot contents to be forcefully ejected from the pressure cooker” and onto her body.
The lawsuit accuses the manufacturer of selling pressure cookers with defective safety features that fail to prevent this type of explosion.
For example, the pressure cooker is advertised to include “special features,” such as a vent that releases pressure, and a lever that locks the lid and unlocks when the pressure has been released.
Her Mirro Pressure Cooker Lawsuit was filed on January 28, 2021 against Groupe SEB USA Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the State of Minnesota (County of Hennepin) — Case Number 27-CV-21-1071.
