August 22, 2025 — A lawsuit has been filed by a woman who was burned by a Farberware Pressure Cooker that she bought at a Walmart Supercenter in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
The lawsuit was filed by Chelsa M., a woman from the town of Iowa, Louisiana. She claims that she was burned by a defective pressure cooker that exploded on September 7, 2024.
Her injuries involved a Farberware 7-in-1 Electric Pressure Cooker, which is a product that is sub-licensed and owned by Walmart. The unit was a 6-Quart pressure cooker with Model: WM-CS6004W.
She blames her burn injuries on defective safety features that failed to fully lock the lid and prevent it from opening when the unit was pressurized.
According to her lawsuit, she was burned as a result of the “lid suddenly and unexpectedly exploding off the pressure cooker’s pot,” which ejected the scalding-hot contents onto her body.
She accuses Walmart of failing to recall a dangerous product, failing to redesign the safety mechanisms, and failing to warn consumers about the risk of severe burn injuries from pressure cooker explosions.
Her lawsuit was filed on August 8, 2025 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana — Case 2:25-cv-01143.
